Buying Canadian First

When you’re looking to buy Canadian why should you buy Canadian first? In the past it used to be that nobody ever thought twice about the long-term effects of their shopping habits within the communities that they live.
We’ve managed to become addicted to the products that are low cost and abroad and have managed to get hooked on quantity accumulation rather than quality. Products in the past were built to last and that isn’t true so much anymore as products are now more so built to be disposed of which makes them appear to be cheaper when you first look at it. This is something that is known as planned obsolescence.

With all of this something very worrisome started happening, Canadian manufacturing jobs started disappearing and disappearing at alarming rates. Through 2003 and 2008 there are over 350,000 Canadian manufacturing job losses. The saddest part about the whole thing is actually that things haven’t really improved. They say that you should always look for a silver lining and here there is one to be seen.

The silver lining is that there is an emergence of a grassroots movement towards purchasing local products first, things that are manufactured right in Canada. It seems like the pendulum is finally starting to swing back to the way of balance and better quality than purchasing outside of Canada.

Historically speaking Canadians have really always been quite patriotic. When it comes to one thing that the world would have noticed this about would have been the Olympics. The love of a country shouldn’t be just simply flying a flag, wearing your beard, putting on your red, etc… There is every reason for a Canadian to be proud of being from Canada and should be proud to purchase all of the products that are made right in Canada.

There are some consumers that will purchase only Canadian based purely on nothing more than principle alone. Those consumers more so than all others see that “Made in Canada” as a badge of honor and they are going to purchase everything Canadian only that they can get their hands on. Proud to contribute and wanting others to know about it.

The idea isn’t something as to only buy Canadian. It’s virtually impossible to do so and actually get what you need in life. The purpose is to consider the Canadian products that are available before you purchase others. Look for Made in Canada before you go foreign, you should buy domestically as often as you can. You’ll get a great quality product and know that you’re supporting your country at the same time. Be proud, buy Canadian.
